FAQS
Are these Experiences offered in other languages?
Currently, Siracusa Walks Experiences are only being offered in English. We hope to develop these experiences in other languages soon. In the meantime, please check the resource page for referrals to tour guides and companies that work in other languages.
Are these Experiences accessible for those with mobility issues?
Yes. There are no stairs, but there are gentle slopes and, at times, uneven cobblestones. Wheelchairs, strollers, and other mobility aids can manage, but use caution. On the Greek Mythology Experience, there are a couple of opportunities to sit down for short rests.
are there age restrictions?
While children are welcome and there are no set age restrictions, the content of the Greek Mythology Experience is best suited to those age 10 and up, and Siracusa After Dark is best suited to those age 14 and up. Adults, please be fully responsible for the children you bring on these experiences.
What about the weather?
Siracusa Walks experiences happen rain or shine. If there are severe thunderstorms in the hours leading up to, or expected at, tour time, then the tour will be cancelled and tickets refunded.
what should we wear or bring?
Always choose comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate attire. In summer, temperatures can reach 40C/104F, in which case a sun hat and water bottle are essential. A hat or umbrella on a rainy day would also be a good choice. Bring a camera - you will have many good photo opportunities.
what if we can’t choose between the themes and want it all?
Then ask for “misto” when you schedule, and we can give a mix of stories from the different themed walks. If you are scheduling a private experience, we are also happy to meet you at your lodging, or other preferred location in Ortigia, and design the walk from there.
Where did you find all these stories?
Many sources! Check out the Bibliography page for references and places to explore if you’re hungry to learn more.
Do you have a state-issued tour guide license?
No, and this is not a that kind of tour. This is a walking experience that utilizes storytelling designed to be short and fun! Allowing you to see the sites and hear interesting stories about the sites, without being strictly academic. You will not be given a lot of dates, architectural styles, art history, etc. with this experience. Those are wonderful experiences to have under the strict direction of a state-licensed guide, and I have a page with referrals. With Siracusa Walks, you will have fun, you will laugh, and you might learn a few things (accidentally, of course).
